Finding the perfect spot for a morning retreat in County Mayo often leads to the gates of Belleek Castle. While the structure itself is a formidable example of neo-Gothic architecture, the Jack Fenn Cafe offers a much more intimate atmosphere. It provides an authentic way to engage with history, where the grandeur of the past meets the warmth of a familiar local hangout. Whether you are a resident of Ballina or a traveler seeking a real castle experience, the café serves as a welcoming gateway to the estate’s 1,000-acre woodland.
The Ultimate Breakfast Experience in a Historic Setting
The day at the castle begins with the scent of freshly ground beans and sourdough toasting in the kitchen. Unlike standard coffee shops, this café focuses on a unique culinary identity rooted in North Mayo’s landscape. The breakfast menu is designed to be both hearty and refined, ensuring that every visitor finds something that resonates with the traditional Irish palate.
Start Your Morning with Local Mayo Flavors
The kitchen prioritizes ingredients sourced from nearby producers to ensure every plate is as fresh as possible. From locally cured meats to eggs sourced from neighborhood farms, the quality of the food is a testament to the region’s rich agricultural heritage.

The Secret Behind Our Daily Scones
There is a reason why locals flock here by mid-morning. Our scones are baked every day following a time-honored recipe. Served with rich clotted cream and house-made preserves, they offer a small but exclusive taste of the finer things in life.
Our baristas treat every pour with precision, providing a high-quality caffeine fix that rivals the best urban coffee houses. It is the perfect companion for a quiet morning spent reflecting under the high ceilings of the café.
Catering to Every Guest’s Needs
We believe that high-quality dining should be inclusive. Our menu features a variety of gluten-free and vegan options, ensuring that the real castle experience is accessible to everyone regardless of dietary requirements.
Why the Community Calls Belleek Home
While many visit for the exclusive castle views, it is the sense of community that keeps the local public returning. The Jack Fenn café acts as a social hub where history is a backdrop to everyday life, not a distant museum piece.

A Quiet Haven for Productivity
For those who work remotely, the café offers a serene environment far removed from the distractions of a home office. With reliable internet and a calm ambiance, it is one of the most unique places in Mayo to get through a to-do list.
Sustainable Practices and Local Heritage
Our philosophy at Belleek is simple: we look after the land so the land can look after us. This ethos is baked into everything we serve, ensuring that our impact on the environment is as light as possible.
From Forest to Fork
We make use of the natural larder found within our 1,000-acre estate. Seasonal herbs and wild ingredients often find their way onto our plates, offering a flavor profile you won’t find anywhere else.
By having lunch with us, you are directly supporting Mayo’s farmers and artisans. We take pride in our supply chain, knowing that our authentic ingredients help sustain other local businesses.
Sustainability is a priority in our kitchen operations. We focus on reducing waste and using eco-friendly packaging for our takeaway services to protect the beautiful woodland that surrounds us.

Discovering the Hidden Layers of the Estate
A visit to the café is rarely just about the food; it is an invitation to explore one of Ireland’s most storied locations. The building is filled with intricate woodwork and 19th-century details that tell a story of luxury and resilience.
A Venue for Life’s Big Moments
Many who come for a simple coffee end up envisioning their future weddings here. Seeing the Great Hall in person often sparks the realisation that this is the perfect place for a truly grand celebration.
